May Flower Challenge • Flowers by Vera

Flowers by Vera • May Flower Challenge • Day Twenty-Three
A vintage flower scarf by Vera for day twenty-three of The May Flower Challenge . This challenge has been started by  Lori Moon, fellow blogger, talented photographer and jewelry artisan.
Since the challenge, I started to become more aware of the incredible amounts of flower inspiration and collections I actually have in my own home.  Pulling finds from my closet, I came across this gorgeous scarf. Vera, an original surface pattern designer, she " believed that art should be worn, eaten off of and slept under.  Her style was bold, colorful and cheerful. She never felt art was just to adorn the walls. She was one of the first artist to copyright her art. She was originally from Connecticut. A woman with a devotion to fashion design and art, Vera made art for fifty years.

Make sure to visit the other artists who are participating in the challenge at Lori Moon's websiteI love challenges like this because it helps build reference material for your body of work, it adds to your sketchbook, portfolio, motif library if you are a Surface pattern designers and so on. Make it work for you.

Trying her hand at pottery. From the book: Vera The Art and Life of an Icon.
A must have for any Vera fan.
