One of my design heroes is Finnish artist and textile designer Maija Isola.
Maija Isola is known for painting The Unikko (Poppy) in 1964 while working for Marimekko. She defied the company ban on florals when she painted the iconic Unikko which is still very popular today.
She created five hundred prints while employed at Marimekko.

Marimekko opened a store in Boston today on Newbury street, so I felt it would be fun to share some Marimekko store snaps from my visit to their Fifth avenue store in New York's Flatiron district last week.
The staff was so gracious and had that fun exuberant Marimekko spirit.

Thank you for stopping by.
