Word Paths • A Question for Mommy

Everyone has a word path. One word leads to another.

Word Paths, a Friday feature showcasing possibilities in written words, creative process and artistic pieces.

My goal is to present three to five words or three to five lines.

I may go to seven words or seven lines but probably not often, only if needed.

I plan to work the Word Paths out artistically and process them to share with you here.

My oldest son had asked me a while ago "if you were a superhero what superpower would you want?" My choices were invisibility or strength. I of course wanted both, why not I'm the mom!! I reminded him of that conversation today and shared with him my word ideas for today's post and he said "mom I have some comic books with some strong female leads you can use". He just makes me laugh. I would have to say he is my Superhero!

For today's Word Path I was inspired by conversations and comic books you could say. In my conversations with other moms we always chat about balance. The balance we try to find in our everyday while juggling all the have to dos. Life is going so fast and at times and is so congested and compressed that we need to accept the fact we can't do it all and at the end of the day that is okay! I have a friend who I would have to say has the superpower of "letting go". I love that when it gets crazy for her, apples and popcorn make a great dinner! Why not! This inspires me and I hope we moms continue to inspire, support and share great stories with one another.

Kids Print and Pattern Book Submissions

Wanted to pop in and say hello! I have been designing, designing and designing. Just coming up for air.

I have been living in the week of deadlines.

I wanted to share with you two submissions I sent in to The Print and Pattern blog call for entries on all things children, from patterns, fabric, illustrations to clothing. This is such a wonderful blog, it "celebrates the world of surface pattern design in fabrics, wallpaper, cards, stationery, gift wrap, ceramics and much more. Bowie Style of Print and Pattern is going to publish a book on Prints and Patterns for kids. Judging from how wonderful Print and Pattern Book One and Two turned out this one should be quite wonderful and inspiring as well. Designers and artists were asked to submit five to ten designs for consideration.

I sent my ten in! Fingers crossed. Wish me luck!

Word Paths • All Words Lead to We

I was inspired by this puzzle I picked up for my youngest son at Anthropologie from Chronicle Books.

It had me thinking about the words you, me, us, we and family. I wanted to make some art with those words.

I started to play around with some script and my favorite sumi brush but I decided

to go with my scrappy and imperfect type with a "read all about it "style.

Here is My Word Path for Today

I loved how all the pieces sit together and compliment each other as if they were meant to be together .

A trip to my favorite store, a gift for my lovely two year old and a piece of art, love the beauty of it all.
