Word Path • Spanish Vibe and Art Every Day Eighteen

Everyone has a word path. One word leads to another.
Velásquez©2011
Word Paths, a Friday feature showcasing possibilities in written words, creative process and artistic pieces.
My goal is to present three to five words or three to five lines.
I may go to seven words or seven lines but probably not often, only if needed.
I plan to work the Word Paths out artistically and process them to share with you here.
You can go here, to my first post on this project and see how it all started.

I sent my oldest off to school with his lunch packed and ready to take on the day.
The little one, who cannot decide if he wants to be Woody or Buzz Lightyear slept later than usual,
so I was able to paint some words in Spanish to share.
Thinking in Spanish today.
Spreading some Latin love!

I started with one idea and ended up in a better creative place. While I did some writing warm ups I used a scrap of, oh yes, my butcher paper to get a feel for type size and length for what I thought would be my final piece of art.  I like what was created  on my practice paper sort of speak. So this being my inspiration I went to the next level. I used wrapping paper the color of Spanish coffee(more milk than coffee) with a nice sooth texture. I for some reason I relate everything to coffee. While painting, the brush and ink moved easily on this paper, love that feeling. I used a combination of brushes, my sumi brush and my favorite Kolinsky brush, sometimes I wonder why I own over fifty brushes when I truly favor and use five of them.

Mi Amor-MyLove                             Mi Corazón- My Heart                      Mi Vida- My Life

Mi Amor Mi Corazón Mi Vida My Love My Heart My Life
When I write or paint these words they have special meaning in my heart.  It is my family, my husband and my boys that I think of.  Even when I whisper them to myself as I paint they are the ones in my heart. These words are used as terms of endearment.  Much like sweet pea, honey or darling.

Art Every Day Seventeen • Leaves and Trees

Spent part of the day drawing trees and leaves. They make great motifs in design. Drawing is a very soothing exercise for me. Great process to begin a piece of work with and become engaged with the subject . I escape, relax and learn.
It is creative research.

Art Every Day Fourteen • Green Beauty

Green and always giving in it's beauty.

The three sisters are complete. I loved working on these. This is not the last of these.
I so want to paint more! Exploration of another color story and a change in size may be the way to go.

Art Every Day Twelve • Almost Done

Almost finished, she is also going to be a beauty. This blue is a favorite color of mine, and with the matte finish that you get with the gouache, absolutely delightful! I have one more flower to go, then the three sisters will be finished. Can't wait to show you.

Playing with color
The more I thought about the word joy another word came to mind, happiness. The words are like cousins when used in conversation. Joy is an emotion and happiness a quest. For me I have always felt that happiness lay more on the surface and is ever changing on many levels. Joy on the other hand settles in and stays deeply felt in your soul.
New art supplies always brings me happiness.
Making art, pure joy.

When I finish the other two I will share them with you.
The paintings are a product of yesterday's flower sketches.
Thank you for stopping by.
