Brushes and Ink to Get Centered

Wow! After five intense and amazing weeks taking Lilla Roger's e-course, Make Art That Sells and then participating in The Global Talent Search competition last week, I must admit I am quite beat creatively. In order to decompress I painted without a plan. I love these exercises with just ink and paper, they make magic. I played with my favorite brushes and acrylic ink and found my "flow".
I went back to basics with black and white two favorites in my color palette!

The two sections I started painting from.

My final piece. So happy with this painting.

Here is My Borrowed Word Path for Today

I heard this last week from a good friend who puts words on paper like no other. Her gift so natural, making her spirit so authentic and true. These were words she shared in a card to another friend. They was very gracious to share these lovely words with our group and I immediately thought what a great Word Path. Very much like when I see a beautiful flower and I need to sketch it, I needed to paint the words I heard!

I have an artist friend who has this large jar full of magazine clippings of words she uses in her work.

On a visit this clipping is what I pulled out of the jar and it left me with a good laugh.

A Collection Revealed

I am into week five of the Lilla Roger's course, Make Art That Sells. I share this mosaic of what I collect as it is the foundation of a design assignment.

I might need an intervention! I put my collections into a mosaic because of the amount of photos. First and foremost I have a have a thing for flowers but here is everything else I collect....Stones and wood from the beach, vintage textiles, vintage art (love Calder, Klee and Kelly) and children's books, vintage pocket books and fun vintage accessories like pins necklaces and sunglasses, bottles for fun flower arrangements, letters and words from the flea markets, printing blocks, hat blocks (I am a milliner), anything Paris related (my favorite place), vintage dinnerware and cups. Hope I haven't overwhelmed but it was nice to take stock. (Hat block photo is from Pinterest, milliner, Leigh Magar) my blocks are packed in the barn at the moment. :)

What you collect is so revealing... as an artist it shows what inspires you, what lights you up you and what influences you.
