My 100th Post • Many Word Paths

I celebrate my 100th post today! I thought it would be great to to share a mosaic of Word Paths as blogging is all about words. I am grateful to have a space to share inspiration, my art and my words. Thank you for reading and supporting my blog. I appreciate the lovely words you share in the comments when you stop in. In my first post I started with the words Wonder and Balance. You can read my first post here. I continue to be filled with wonder and I still trying to find balance with the mix of family and art and all that life throws at you in between.

Six Degrees of Inspiration

Trend and color filter into our lives at every turn. Everything around us is influenced by fashion and design from color palette or scheme to interiors to product. Someone, let's say an artist, a designer is inspired by a color, he or she produces a product in that color, then product is purchased by an "influencers". Other "influencers" talk about the product, which gives it "legs". People want to emulate the influencers or just may be inspired by them and buys the product themselves. Sometimes there is a perceived added value because if the "influencer" bought the product it must be good. From there it goes on and on with a  trickle down effect.

Put this tear sheet on my wall from House and Home Magazine,
it makes a great quick reference for color.

When I picked up Elle Decoration a favorite mag there was a wonderful Fashion report to be had inside. It felt rich and important printed on uncoated stock. Makes you stop and have a look. It was all about how the catwalk influences the way we live. There is a quote in the report by one of my designer crushes, Paul Smith, a brilliant designer from the UK that reads...

"Fashion, design, furniture, film, architecture, textiles-all leave an impression each other"-Paul Smith

This is the time of year when ideas for new work start percolating and I turn to books and mags for inspiration at the start. The Spring season influences the fresh start with new ideas. It is also a great time to be outside drawing and painting. The weather has been absolutely lovely. From my magazine stash here are a few of my favorites:
House and Home from Canada never disappoints always full of great ideas. Quite fantastic
when it comes to the Color Issue.

Living etc., Vogue Australia, The World of Interiors and Inside Out. These are so gorgeous it is tough to tear them up for mood boards and inspiration boards.

Color Challenge • Blue Love

The Color Challenge continues with our post creations inspired by Tranquil Blues.
While organizing the studio, which will take me month of Sunday's to finish, I found this mood board. I thought it was perfect for the challenge. It has the tranquility and calm of the garden, the beach and the sky. They say the color blue can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming and make you more productive. I love that we can start and are greeted most days by nature's beautiful blue skies.

As some of you know not a day goes by where I don't have a coffee, read few magazines and listen to NIna Simone. No matter the time crunch, I make time for my three favorite things.
A song came to mind and I wanted to share as I have done throughout out my blog with a sprinkle of music here and there.

Word Paths, a Friday feature showcasing possibilities in written words, creative process and artistic pieces.
My goal is to present three to five words or three to five lines.
I may go to seven words or seven lines but probably not often, only if needed.
I plan to work the Word Paths out artistically and process them to share with you here.
You can go here, to my first post on this project and see how it all started.

My list of things that "happen" to make things "not happen" when it comes to making art!
We all have them. At times it could be an artist block or just the third load of laundry to set us back.
We need to honestly admit to ourselves... this is just not happening today and let it go!
No Art Today is sometimes the "shingle I want to hang because it sometimes just doesn't work for me.
I am sure many of you can relate. What are some of your distractions?

Here is My Word Path for Today
