Let's Fly Blog Hop...Have a visit!

Hello and welcome to the Let's Fly Blog Hop.

Our Theme is Let's Fly and we will be using Emerald the 2013 Pantone color of the year in our mini collection.You are probably stopping in from Lesley Todd's lovely blog, Finch Five.

My name is Deborah Velásquez. I am an artist-designer with a passion for creating art.
I work both traditionally and digitally. I have a love for printmaking and silk screening.

The mix of design, words and crafts light me up. Some of my favorite things are, coffee, magazines, art books, a sharpie and a sketchbook.

Bird sketches were at the start of the process, it was the lined bird drawings that inspired the initial carved block for the prints I planed to make.

Carving and testing.

Putting the blocks to the test. The lines are solid, strong and graphic. I had these test sheets out while I made more sketches and carved more blocks. I ended up with four pieces to work with. It inspired me and I was able to play with different ideas and layout.

Instead of printing the design with ink on paper i scanned my motifs into the computer to finalize my patterns.

Color Inspiration

I pulled out color chips. novelty papers and a a watercolor piece of mine in order to find colors that sat well with Emerald Green. Here are some sophisticated and fun combinations

Taking Flight Again.....Getting ready for a Blog Hop with some prep work

I wanted to share with you that around 50 Surface patterns designers from around the world are gathering together in a fantastic bloghop, it will be open on

Thursday 10 of January and run until Sunday 13 January.

This bloghop is our way to celebrate the New Year and we thought the best way to
celebrate is by creating and doing what we love.

The theme is "Let's fly" and we will be using

Emerald the 2013 Pantone color of the year as a main color .

Each designer will be creating a mini collection based on their own interpretation of the theme and showcasing their unique style.
