I started the day thinking about my Art Every Day project and thought I would make a raised a stamp. I used weather stripping foam on plexi. This is a great technique. You work opposite of the carved rubber block used for the owl prints. Instead of cutting away on a block to create the design, here you build up the design on the block.
Flowers are a huge theme for me, I am very passionate about inspiration from the outdoors. Nature has the power to slow you down, shorten your steps, make you pause in its beauty as you rush by.
I find it to be the greatest gift to artist and non artist alike.

This is my base for my flower print. A simple and solid shape printed with black textile ink on butcher paper. I love to work on butcher paper, it is a good place to work out designs before making a final piece.
I use this paper for artwork with great results. I pretty much print and paint on anything! My favorite has be shingles from a renovation, shown here in a previous post, look behind the pillow. What interesting "canvases" have you made art on?
Tomorrow I will bring the flower to phase two, a final transformation.
The second layer will be embellished as they say. Till then!
