Blue Leaf

When I paint I like to wear a large white shirt, I always have some jewelry on ( I can't paint without a ring on) and I usually listen to Nina Simone. The completed painting of Blue Leaf just won an award on Minted.com.

Word Path • Moments and the May Flower Challenge Day Twenty-Four

Inking and marking my yellow flower for day Twenty-Four of the May Flower Challenge. I continue to work on my yellow floral.

May Flower Challenge Day Twenty-Three • At the Start of a Painting

Watercolor play twenty-three of the May Flower Challenge. Just starting to play with some petals on vines earlier today. Hoping to build more colors on the leaves, the next step always makes me nervous because sometimes what you envision in your head doesn't necessarily translate onto the page. Fingers crossed. Hey I can always start again!

May Flower Challenge Day Fifteen • Twigs and Blossoms

Here is my final piece at 18 x24. Follow my post photos and you can see my steps from start to finish.

How things started at my desk this morning. I knew I wanted to build my blossoms on the twigs so I used acrylic ink and painted the blossoms with waterclolors.

Twigs as my base, this image has been in my head all week, so glad to put it on paper.

A great start, I was going to stop here and finish tomorrow but I was inspired to finish as I saw the lovliness in the buds develop in paint.

Pink Blossoms for day fifteen of the May Flower Challenge . Really enjoyed getting the paints out again after a week not painting.

Love in a Mist...... My Sweet Nigella is Finished

Here is where I began you can see the start of Nigella and the original post here. Black gouache and my Sumi brush.

I left off undecided in what direction to go with in regards to medium. In the end I decided on oil stick, watercolor, pencil and gouache. The painting has an engraved look and feel to it.My goal was a solid deep midnight sky blue for the background. When I finished I wanted a smooth, flat and more solid background so I created the background and the color digitally for my final piece to post .
