Word Paths and a Licensing Partnership!

I am happy to announce my licensing partnership with The World Art Group
This is a very exciting time in my creative career and this past year has been fantastic in so
many ways.
The best part of it all is that I have been able to continue to make and create art and that is my joy.
WONDER turned into WONDERFUL with a licensing partnership, with work that continues to be showcased in galleries and shops.
I chose to announce this on a Word Path Friday because my word art has been the key to opening many doors.
Many samples of the Giclee prints available are shown on this page.
If you are interested in making a purchase please contact me through my Etsy store or find the Giclee print of your choice on The World Art group website here

A Table Takes Flight • Final Print inspired by George Nelson Furniture

The modern appearance of Dragonflies,
tail to tail forming a ribbon in flight.
When a piece is finished,
the art is seen and felt.

Sometimes the direction one starts is not necessarily where one ends up.
See original inspiration and sketches in my two previous posts here and here.
My clean modern lines went organic as the carving tools made their own course.
I love handmade pieces and its imperfections.

Relief Print Inspired by George Nelson • Part Two

New relief print artwork inspired by George Nelson furniture.

I played with yesterday's sketches to plan the positive and negative areas of the design.
I transferred my design to a large block, thinking I would carve a large design but I thought it would be best to simplify and keep the design small and to be honest I was impatient. I saw the beauty immediately while carving and I wanted to get the print on paper!

My first test print, black ink on Bristol paper. Beautifully organic. I went from my more modern drawings, sketches and inspiration to a more folkloric, even primitive design feel. I will do more printing today on a larger scale. I see beautiful repeat possibilities. Stop in tomorrow to see what beauty is in store with this design.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello January! Welcoming 2013 with George Nelson Inspiration

Hello January! After my orders were filled and paintings delivered this busy December, I loved the down time to reconnect with family and friends. I enjoyed quiet mornings with coffee and magazines while the kids slept in most mornings during vacation. God parents, cousins, sleep overs, snow play, movies and games filled hours of fun for us as a family.

Now I am back to my creative work after a lovely break for the Christmas Holiday. Looking forward to the New Year. Thank you 2012 for a fantastic creative year. You were brilliant!

While on break I was inspired by American furniture designer George Nelson. As one of the founders of American Modernism, I find the simple and clean lines of his designs very inspiring. Some samples of his work are pictured above. I made some line sketches and started to prep for some carving in order to make some relief prints this week. I played with layout ideas to see how the design might play out. I will let you see how things turn out.
