Word Paths • You

Played with words today. This is how most Fridays usually go in the studio.

Determination, Courage and Inspiration….Have a look.

Some color in the background for a change.

My mess in the studio today. Lots of sketch paper to make the words happen on a page.
Stacks of painted words in order to get "flow".

Word Path, a Repost • History Revisited

Today's  Post is a re-post  from Last January. I was going through some work and this Word Path piece kept coming up and it is favorite because it says something with a lot of truth in it. I do love how the past opens the door for new things to happen. Enjoy.

I wanted to use my words with a background treatment today. I have chosen Yellow Pods which I had painted this past August, you can find it here.

My Word Path for Today
To be Interesting...                                                                   by Velásquez©2013

Today's Word Path is for RB...What you talked about gifted me a Word path, Thank You.

Many Word Paths have been inspired by conversations or just happenings in everyday life that I happen to observe. Many times there is "coffee" involved and I can say that this time was one of those times. A few days ago I was in a conversation with friends and in the back and forth I landed on this Word Path. I didn't even realize it until a friend said, "Deb, I think you have your Word Path for Friday..." Thanks to my friend who finds messages everyday.

Your history, your journey, your detours, your losses, your breakups, your successes, your gains... you get what I mean, they are your story.  It all comes together in who you are today and how cool is that! What was funny during that conversation is that one of the girls brought up my "All my Yesterdays..." Word Path quotes from the past. We were all part of each other's history that day.

Our past offers such great foundations to stand on as we move forward to many a new day.

We take the past, remix it and re-imagine it. We collect the past and create anew.
How interesting is that!

Tropical Fusion Blog Hop….Have a visit

©2014 Velásquez
Hello and welcome to the Tropical Fusion BlogHop.
Over 40 designers are designing within a tropical theme and are incorporating Radiant Orchid, the 2014 Pantone color of the year in their mini collection.
The hop will run for 4 days.

You are probably stopping in from Jolene Heckman's lovely blog.
If you want to start at the beginning of the hop please visit Mary Tanana's blog called Groovity.

My name is Deborah Velásquez. I am an artist-designer with a passion for creating art.
I work both traditionally and digitally.
I have a love for painting, printmaking and silk screening.

The mix of design, words and crafts light me up. Some of my favorite things are, coffee, magazines, art books, a sharpie and a sketchbook.

I am a licensed artist with The World Art Group and I have Just been named the First place winner of The Carpet Vista 2013 Competition out of Malmö, Sweden, My rug designs will be available late January 2014

Here is the start of my design process after a bit of research.
Some sketching and some motif painting.

I then prepare my blocks by cutting out my design. I do a few test prints in order to check my line work.
I love the surprise of relief printing .
I like to mix printing and painting in the same piece of work.

Word Path • Forever in My Heart

Special people stay in your heart forever, it is there that we reserve a place for them and hold them dear for a very long time……..a long time, like in forever.

In My Heart, My Always Friend                by  Velásquez ©2014

I was inspired to make this art today because I was feeling
quite sad as I found out a
great friend is moving away.
Decided to express in art what I feel.
Ending on a "happy" note.
Here is a song that expresses how things go when our families get together.
