At the beginning of this week I had a short but great visit with my friend Jewel. As always we had a great chat about art, words and what great vintage finds inspired us. No coffee though, need to fix that next time. I always photograph something that catches my eye at her house. I usually leave with something, this time I borrowed a book and happened to spot this lovely Vera scarf that she covered a foot stool with. Just my colors!
On my way out the door I saw one of her pieces of art, " I Have Pants and You Have Pants" I have always loved this piece and I finally I got the story behind it. After all these years of friendship I have never known what inspired it. Read on.....
The story goes like this...it was a battle of the sexes, the division of chores by gender, a battle of wills, the expectations in a relationship while living together on who should take the trash out! We talked about how we fall into what our parents did when it came to chores around the house.
At the end of the day "Pants" was a celebration of equality, Jewel said. After "I Have Pants and You Have Pants" was blurted out in a "high pitched discussion" it was followed by laughter and it was learned that both could do chores equally well and then it became art!
Thanks for sharing my friend. Will be seeing you soon for more conversations to share!

thanks, Deb! Tou are the best friend anyone could wish for. I love our "talks". Remember we all where the pants is this human family--not that I'm averse to a little black dress now and again! xxoo jewel
